The best reason to be lean

Okay, I'm finally going to be completely real about my reasons for pursuing a lean, fit body.

At times I've said I do it because it makes everything else better. Everything from skiing to sex is better when I'm lean and in shape.  But certainly that can't be the real reason.

I've also said I want to be active and do things with my kids that they want to do.  Sometimes I'm the one pushing them to do things as well, and being fit enough to crawl over things, climb things, and jump off them just makes it all more enjoyable.

Now, with my older son at 22, and my younger son about to turn 18, and two girls behind them growing up quickly I realize I'll be a grandparent someday.  Sure, I want to be active and physically fit to play with grandkids.  Secretly, I might have a goal of being in better shape than my kids and having my grandkids ask me why their parents can't keep up with me.  :)  Maybe.

But all of those are just little things.  I mean, they're not really THAT important.  The best reason, and perhaps the driving motivation is this:

I hate cleaning my belly button.

Yep, it's that simple.  When I'm lean, it stays clean in the normal course of taking a shower.  When I weighed 239 pounds, well, you can imagine.

So stay lean, and your belly button is flat, and you don't have to clean it.  Now THAT is the best reason to be lean.  By far, right?
